Foxconn Technology Group, a smartphone producer announced it will manufacture buses and cars for brands in various markets. Foxconn is a Taiwanese company that manufactures smartphones for Apple Inc. Foxconn said, Model T, its first electric bus, will have a range of less than 400 kilometers on one charge. Young Liu, Chairman at Foxconn Technology Group said it will produce cars and buses for brands in China, North America, Europe and other markets. He mentioned that clients can modify their appearance and features for their markets. Liu said that automakers Fisker Inc. and Yulong Group are their clients. The company is set to enter the global electric market and compete with established automakers and several start-ups. The company mentioned that the flagship Model E sedan, developed with Italian design house Pininfarina will launched in 2023. The Model E will have five seats and run at a range of 750 kilometers on one charge. According to Taiwan News newspaper, other potential customers of the company include Stellantis, the automaker formed by the merger of FIAT Chrysler and Peugeot. But there is no confirmation from Foxconn for this yet.
