  • Turbocharger also called as turbo, is a turbine driven forced induction machine that is highly efficient in improving the internal combustion, efficiency and power output of an engine by adding additional air into the combustion chamber. This improvisation is highly efficient because the turbine can force more air, and thus respectively more fuel, into the combustion chamber than atmospheric pressure alone. Turbocharger is power-driven by a turbine which is driven by the engine’s exhaust gases. In other words, turbocharger utilizes the pressure energy of the exhaust gases and transforms it into kinetic energy to drive the turbines of turbocharger. There are various types of turbochargers such as waste gated turbocharger, variable geometry turbocharger, twin turbocharger and various others. Turbochargers are capable of working for both gasoline and diesel engines and can considerably boost an engine’s horsepower without increasing its weight, which emerges out as a huge benefit that makes turbochargers prominent. Turbocharger are capable enough of increasing the power output of an engine while persisting in the extreme operating conditions.
